Latimer picks up Cheshire housing site
The company, part of Clarion Housing Group, has acquired a 165-home site with outline consent in Sandbach from Gladman Land, and has appointed Lane End Group as its contractor.
Latimer intends to deliver 116 homes for private sale, 32 homes for affordable rent and 17 shared ownership homes at the 23-acre site. Work is expected to start this autumn.
Located on Abbey Road, the site will have a mix of two-bedroom apartments and two-, three- and four-bedroom houses. The site has a gross development value of around £47m, Latimer said.
Clarion nationally owns 125,000 homes, with around 1,200 homes in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The organisation opened an office in King Street, Manchester last month.
Andy Brown, head of land North for Latimer and Clarion, said: “We have ambitious plans to deliver 50,000 new homes over ten years across the country, with a key focus on Manchester and the surrounding areas. We expect this development to be popular thanks its close proximity to retailers, schools and good transport links.
“Combined with our new office premises, this deal underlines our commitment to delivering much-needed new homes in the area. We are actively looking for further sites that we can turn into housing in the short to medium term, as well as longer term strategic opportunities.”
The development is expected to be completed in 2021. Richard Harrison, managing director of Lane End, said: “This is a great example of the unison we have forged with Clarion and we are proud to secure this exciting scheme. Lane End are committed to their partnership approach to business.”
