Langtree launches St Helens business park

Developer Langtree has started work on phase one of a new £50m business park in Mere Grange, St Helens.

The £12m first phase of the 30-acre park, which is a joint venture between developer Langtree and regeneration agency English Partnerships, will provide 60,000 sq ft of self-contained office space in 10 units of between 3,300 sq ft and 9,700 sq ft.

Further phases will be developed after this, totalling 300,000 sq ft.

Mere Grange, previously known as Lea Green Farm West, was reclaimed using grants from EP's National Coalfields Programme and the EU and Merseyside Objective One programme.

Stephen Barnes, group development director of Langtree said: "We know there is a severe shortage of high quality office accommodation in St Helens and that local businesses may have to move away if they want to grow as a result.

"This business park will provide the space for service sector businesses to expand and attract new companies to invest in St Helens."

The initial phase will be completed by June 2008. The whole park is expected to be finished by 2015.

The main contractor on site is construction company Morgan Ashurst. King Sturge is the letting agent.
