KPMG promotes Hurst to chairman of northern operations

Accountant KPMG, an advisor to property developers in the North West on investment and management, has promoted Jonathan Hurst to chairman of its entire northern operations.

Hurst, who is the managing partner of KPMG's Manchester office, replaces Malcom Edge and will take overall responsibility for the practice's five northern offices, including Manchester, Liverpool, and Preston, as well as Leeds and Newcastle.

Hurst was made managing partner of the Manchester office last year, taking over the position from Edge himself.

Edge has held the chairman post for the last five years and will continue as head of KPMG's national markets and sit on the board of KPMG Europe.

KPMG employs around 1,600 people, which includes 59 partners.
