Kingswood and Hemingway secure planning in Blackburn

Kingswood Homes has won planning permission for Green Hills, a development of 167 houses in Blackburn on which it is working with Hemingway Design and architect ID Partnership.

Work will start early in 2017 on the first phase. The development on Livesey Branch Road will also feature a community hub, while cycle ways and footpaths will be created to link with the existing Witton Weavers Way. The houses will sit around rural landscaped courtyards or will face open space. The scheme sits within the wider Gib Lane masterplan.

Paul Jones, managing director of Preston-based Kingswood, said: “The first phase of 61 properties will have no less than 41 different designs so it will be the complete opposite of an estate with identikit little boxes. These will be aspirational, attainable properties for people looking for quality of life and a new house they will be proud to call home.”

Hemingway Design is the business started by renowned fashion designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway when they sold Red or Dead in the late 1990s and moved into built environment design. Kingswood Homes was established in 2009.

Jones said: “We want to build bespoke homes that really capture people’s imagination and offer contemporary but practical living. Hemingway Design and IDP have come up with fantastic designs that perfectly suit the location and will make Green Hills a very special place to live.”
