Kier launches fit-out arm
Construction group Kier is launching a new interiors and refurbishment division.
It said the arm, called i&r, will deliver high quality fit-out and refurbishment projects, "ranging from category A and B developments and bespoke end-user accommodation, through to heavy structural works and decommissioning of vacated space".
Operations manager Phil Chadwick will lead the business in the North which will focus on commercial, retail, hospitality and leisure, and science and technology.
He said: "Establishing i&r in the North is part of strategic expansion of the Kier offer in the region and builds on a wide portfolio of successful refurbishment schemes delivered by the company over recent years.
"Our flexibility, innovation and understanding of our client's needs, will ensure that we create solutions that really work for them and their businesses."
In an interim management statement on November 15 Kier said trading remained in line with expectations. "In particular, our order books in construction and services remain robust and our net cash position remains healthy". It has secured £400m of work in the period since July 1.
The group employs 155 people across offices in Liverpool, Manchester and Wrexham, and is currently working on a range of projects in the region including Streford High School, Bury Community Fire Station and a Morrisons store in Leigh.
