Kendal banking hall on the market

A former Kendal banking hall is on the market with planning permission to be turned into a music venue or a pub.

South Lakeland District Council has extended permission for assembly and leisure use at the site which is on the maket for £300,000.

The Grade II-listed Sand Aire House is the former Provincial Insurance Hall on New Road in the town.

Danny Pinkus, partner at Preston-based agent Robert Pinkus & Co, said: "It is a great character building in a prominent, central location that is crying out to be refurbished and life breathed back into it.

"With planning permission for assembly and leisure use, alongside existing additional planning for a either a restaurant, café or drinking establishment, it holds great potential for the right buyer willing to invest. We are hoping for some good levels of interest in the property."

The 6,228 sq ft property has a high vaulted ceiling with the potential for a mezzanine floor, according to Pinkus. There is additional space on the first floor, part of which has been part-converted to provide two, one bedroom flats.
