Kellen completes first tranche of 168 Salford homes

The housebuilder has handed over the keys for 19 finished properties off Seaford Road to Sigma Capital Group this week.

Known as ‘Albion Place’, Kellen Homes is developing 96 one- and two-bedroom apartments, and 72 two- and three-bedroom homes for Sigma, to be marketed under their private rental brand Simple Life.

The development has been created on the 5.3-acre site of the former British Vita plastics factory in Salford which ceased operations in 2009.

Kellen’s project manager Liam Ruddock said: “It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to hand over the keys to Sigma to allow the first new residents to move into this superbly located development.

“We are very proud of the houses that we have built here but they only become homes when people move in and make them their own, and it is great to see that underway.

“Albion Place is part of a successful and ongoing partnership with Sigma and this development will provide much-needed homes for local people in a popular location with access to great amenities.

“We will continue with the build and look forward to delivering more homes in the very near future.”

Sigma’s Lee Catterall added: “We’re delighted to be taking handover of our first homes at Albion Place, with what is set to be another fantastic neighbourhood with Kellen Homes.

“We’re looking forward to offering local renters a high-quality, brand-new home, teamed with a professional management approach to renting.

“Within easy reach of Manchester and Salford centres, renters can get from the best of the city whilst benefitting from car parking, private gardens, and pets welcomed at no extra cost.

“Albion Place is already proving very popular with over 190 renters already registered interest in the development.”

The development will also see Kellen and Sigma contributing £1.1m towards education, open space, transport, and the public realm.

WSP is the planning consultant for the project and Kellen designed the scheme in-house. Ascerta is the landscape architect.

I lived on Seaford Road as a student in 2007. It was a very dangerous area for students.
