Keepmoat makes start on Lancashire housing

Housebuilder Keepmoat Homes has begun initial preparatory works for its Lyndon Park development in Great Harwood as it lines up the delivery of 217 homes over the next five years.

Working in partnership with Hyndburn Borough Council, the scheme on Harwood Lane will consist of a mixture of properties from two-bed bungalows to four-bedroom detached homes, with 20% being allocated for affordable housing.

Approval was granted unanimously by Hyndburn’s planning committee in June 2017 for the scheme on the former Lyndon Playing Fields. Outline consent had been secured in 2015, despite some local opposition to the plans including a 1,000-plus signature petition.

Keepmoat said that early interest in the £38m scheme has been high, with the first properties due to be completed by June 2018. All qualify for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.

Cllr Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said: “This is a huge investment for Great Harwood and we’re delighted that work is finally underway. The new development will bring much needed new housing to the area, which has seen little development over recent years.”
