Bury Council is about to embark on the next phase of its visionary and ambitious programme of regeneration with significant investment in the Borough to cement it as a destination of choice to both live and work within Greater Manchester.

Their vision is to create prospering communities that thrive independently; through excellent employment opportunities, education, health and leisure facilities whilst promoting the wider fabric of the Borough through sustainable and accessible transport links and economic opportunities throughout.

The council’s leadership team is dedicated to building upon previous regeneration activity and has identified 3 major programmes of work to re-imagine and transform the areas of Prestwich, Bury Town Centre and Radcliffe. This creative programme will set them apart from neighbouring areas and really put Bury on the map. Using these 3 locations as a catalyst for further redevelopment and regeneration across the whole of Bury; the leadership team is committed to being a pioneer and driving force when it comes to changing the face and economic potential of this Metropolitan Borough.

The executive team is now looking for an Assistant Director of Regeneration Delivery, an Assistant Director of Strategy, Planning & Regulation and two Major Projects Managers to join them and spearhead this significant change and bring the vision to life.

Assistant Director of Regeneration Delivery

£77,935 – £84,720

This role will take responsibility for leading all projects and programmes to deliver against Bury Council’s regeneration strategy. You will be the driving force and will translate concepts into delivery through strong leadership of a multi-discipline team. You will also take the lead in managing contractual relationships with delivery partners and develop key relationships with Bury’s leadership team and wider stakeholders; including the CE who has a vested interest in some of the politically complex projects within the portfolio.

Assistant Director of Strategy, Planning & Regulation

£70,601-76,476

The council is looking for an individual with experience and knowledge of local government regulatory functions, a track record in strategic planning and exceptional stakeholder management skills. This role will take the lead in multiple forums and will assist the Director of Growth and Infrastructure in building beneficial regional relationships to promote Bury’s interests on the wider Greater Manchester platform.

Major Projects Manager – Radcliffe & Bury Town Centre

£51,755 – £54,675 (Two year fixed term contract)

The leadership team is looking for two Senior Project Manager to play a leading role, in driving forward progress and delivering transformation for two key areas.  This is an exciting and unique opportunity for you to be responsible for bringing to life the Council’s continued ambitious regeneration goals.

In Bury Town Centre, the council is working on plans to bring forward a new modern day transport interchange, a comprehensive regeneration scheme around the wider Markets area, a new public hub building, the development of the education estate and plans to increase the level of commercial space in the centre.

In Radcliffe; the council have just completed a Strategic Regeneration Framework with Deloittes.  The SRF recognises a number of key projects that we must now translate into development proposals.

The successful candidate will therefore lead delivery of major capital projects and will take ownership of the multi-year strategy to deliver key projects for the area (these include a new public hub building, potential new leisure facilities, the Market Chambers building and the redevelopment of Bradley Fold Trading Estate).
