Are you a recently Chartered Cost Manager who is seeking a new challenge?

Our client is an award-winning, internationally recognised multi-discipline construction consultancy. They are looking to add to their cost management team in Manchester due to some significant project wins.

You will be expected to work with minimal supervision, but with the full support and guidance offered by dedicated Associates or Directors to successfully manage and deliver capital projects, from inception to completion and project handover. Their projects typically range in value from £2m up to £20m, but they also have more complex projects of up to £100m in value which you will have opportunities to work on.

The range of project work we undertake includes:

  • Hotels
  • Offices
  • Theatres
  • Museums
  • Heritage Buildings
  • Visitor Centres
  • Care Homes
  • Residential

You will need to split your time between working in the office, attending site and be comfortable holding direct discussions with clients.

Their projects nearly always start out at the feasibility stage, so you will be expected to prepare feasibility cost studies, cost estimates and cost plans from drawn information, calling upon your own experience to make assumptions where required. You will possess a good understanding of elemental cost estimates.

You’ll will have solid procurement experience, and be able to advise clients on alternative procurement options to match their own particular requirements. You will be able to guide procurement discussions, produce tender documentation and make valued recommendations to our clients. A sound background in procurement is therefore important.

You will also be well versed with post-contract activities such as cost reporting and contract valuations.

An understanding of the Design and Build Employer’s Agent Role is advantageous, but you will build and grow you experience in the area as part of the role.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current experience in the North West building sector
  • Skilled in Risk and Value Management
  • Be able to demonstrate where you have added value to previous projects
  • Working knowledge of JCT
  • Good knowledge of Design and Build procurement
  • Experience of acting as Employer’s Agent on Design and Build projects would be helpful

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Qualified – ideally Quantity Surveying/ Construction/Engineering Degree.
  • Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution
