Job Description

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

We are a development and construction company delivering affordable housing in the North West. Here at Alderley Group and Complete Construction, we are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join a rapidly expanding company.

The role is in the Warrington area, you will work alongside the Group Managing Director Kevin Corish to minimize the cost of the delivery and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality. You will be responsible for all procurement of the development and keeping track of any variations to the project that may affect the costs and create reports accordingly.

You must be suitably qualified and have a strong understanding of construction.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the client to procure full delivery of the development
  • Management and completion of JCT contact – risk analysis
  • Manage and prepare Tender Docs for subcontractors’, material & plant for all packages
  • Knowledge and involvement in reviewing and approving all design information from consultants for each package
  • Coordinate all Consultant information for the project packages
  • Manage all subcontractor packages to complete procurement
  • Manage and source materials for subcontractor packages
  • Manage and source plant for subcontractor packages
  • Produce Tender Comparisons for all packages
  • Produce Subcontract and Material Procurement Schedules
  • Produce all Comparison Schedules for all packages to be approved by KC
  • Produce BoQ for all packages when needed
  • Provide weekly Progress Reports
  • Manage and control Material stock takes weekly
  • Produce material call of schedules for suppliers
  • Collate Supplier accounts
  • Prepare all Docs and Appointment of all packages
  • Manage and collate all Collateral Warranties, Certificates, Testing & Commissioning
  • Manage and collate O&M Manuals for project
  • Manage Project Cost Plan & CVR
  • Manage Project Cash Flow
  • Produce Monthly Valuations and meet with Employers Agent and Client
  • Complete all Valuations & Variations for the project
  • Complete all Vesting Certificates
  • Responsible for programming Sub-Contract, Material and Plant in line with package programme dates.
  • Monitor Subcontract resources and programme of work
  • Procurement of all Packages from RIBS Stage 2 Developed Design, Stage 3 Developed Design & Stage 4 Technical Design Stage 5 Construction Stage 6 Handover
  • Control the Value Engineering of all packages and of design spec through Procurement
  • Attend site meetings and sub-contractors’ meetings through Construction delivery
  • Manage Subcontractor, Material & Plant Payment Certs and final account for all packages
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations
  • Manage all packages to be Building Control approved
  • Manage all packages to be Structural Warranty approved
  • Monitor quality control by subcontractors
  • General all tasks to support the business

Requirements

  • Demonstration of self-management and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties
  • Pre and Post Contract experience
  • Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion
  • Ensure Subcontractors and Suppliers are approved and meet company standards prior to procurement
