Development Directorate. Preston City Council is part of the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal. Work has already started on a £430m 10-year investment programme to grow the local economy by £1bn, creating over 20,000 new jobs and building over 17,000 new homes.

We are investing in our building control service to be ready for this challenge and are seeking two experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to take up these roles. You will be responsible for ensuring a range of varied and exciting developments achieve compliance with the building regulations, from pre-submission concept meetings through to completion on site. Common projects the service is involved in include major city centre developments, major educational developments, healthcare schemes and a wide variety of large and smaller scale residential projects. You will also supervise other members of the team and provide support to them in their day to day work and career development.

You will need to show you can act on your own initiative, be flexible, adaptable and be part of a progressive team. Excellent communication skills are required as well as the ability to motivate and guide staff. The role offers flexibility as a fully implemented remote working system is in place and is covered by the Council’s flexible working hours scheme together with up to 32 days annual leave.
