Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) are increasingly integral to the delivery of the Government’s Industrial Strategy, a point underlined by ‘Strengthened Local Enterprise Partnerships’ which was published by the Government last summer and included, amongst other things, commitments that the Government would ensure that LEPs are securely placed to drive growth through the development of Local Industrial Strategies, and that it would form  a ‘Council of Local Enterprise Partnership Chairs’ chaired by the Prime Minister.

The increasing amount of business being undertaken by the LEPs means that there are now a number of opportunities to join the Cheshire and Warrington LEP, either on the main Board,  on the Board of Marketing Cheshire (a subsidiary of the LEP), or one of the sub-committees which discharge most of the day-to-day work of the LEP, including on issues such as  investments into the Enterprise Zone or the provision of training for young people.

The LEP Board currently comprises 15 members from across the private and public sectors in Cheshire and Warrington and represents a range of skills and economic sectors.   Three vacancies have arisen on the main LEP Board, two on the Marketing Cheshire Board, and fourteen on a number of Board sub-committees which are being strengthened to allow them to assume delegated responsibility for key elements of the LEP’s programme.  The LEP is therefore seeking to recruit high quality representatives from the business community (including the voluntary sector) to provide the support and challenge needed to realise the LEP’s exciting strategic plans.  We are looking for individuals who are prepared to bring their experience, expertise and networks to shape the strategic agenda of this exciting sub-region.

Please reply by submitting a CV and short covering letter demonstrating how you meet the requirements of this role to Mark Leach: mleach@warrington.gov.uk by Sunday 31st March 2019.

Alternatively, for an informal and confidential discussion please call Philip Cox (CEO of the LEP) on 01606 812280 or Mark Livesey (Deputy CEO of the LEP and CEO of Marketing Cheshire) on 07947 850019.
