Kingsley are representing a main contractor with a North West base and a UK wide reach. The firm have embarked upon an ambitious growth plan and have a pipeline of work secured for the next five years and as such, require a non-contentious construction lawyer to join the existing team.

Accountabilities

You will work on the legal affairs for the business. You will be part of a close-knit team and will report directly to the CEO and Finance Manager.

  • Liaison with external property lawyers and the group’s investment team regarding construction related matters
  • Reviewing of draft development and funding agreements and advising on construction obligations
  • Negotiation and agreement of contract conditions and amendments thereto with investors / purchasers / funders legal representatives
  • Negotiation and agreement of contract conditions and amendments thereto with external contractors
  • Drafting of building contracts in conjunction with the commercial and technical teams
  • Negotiation, agreement and drafting of professional team appointments in conjunction with the commercial and technical teams
  • Negotiation, agreement and drafting of collateral warranties, third party rights and letters of reliance
  • Management of the administration and delivery of construction documents in accordance with the relevant development and funding agreements

Knowledge Sharing:

You will promote internal awareness and increased knowledge of

  • Contracts – common terms and conditions
  • Standard forms of appointment (ACE / NEC / CIC etc.)
  • Commercial awareness – common causes of complaints and claims
  • Dispute resolution
  • Contract law
