WYG is seeking to recruit an experienced Housing Layout Designer to work within the company’s urban design team on major residential developments.

Your Role

It is envisaged that the role will be located within the firms Salford Quays offices and cover an existing and growing workload across the Northwest, the East Midlands and Yorkshire.  The designer will work within a busy team and must have excellent organisational skills and must be able to work well within a team environment.  Hand-drawn skills will be advantageous, but the output will principally be 1:500 detailed layouts. You will also support outline planning work and schematic housing design work for the wider planning and urban design teams.

About You 

You will have experience working with or for housebuilding firms and will be familiar with the challenges of designing high quality developments, which are commercially and technically sound, whilst also reflecting good principles of urban design.   The role would be ideally suited to a qualified designer / technologist with an architectural and or urban design background.  Housebuilder experience is vital whatever the previous design qualifications. Accordingly High quality CAD (AutoCad) skills are essential.  Experience of other drawing packages including Vectorworks and Photoshop would be advantageous, as would experience working in BIM (Revit).
