Trafford: a great place, a great destination and first for investment

Trafford is a prosperous and sought-after place to live with excellent parks and green spaces and thriving town centres, each with their own unique identity and including the popular and lively modern market hall in Altrincham, and major cultural and leisure destinations including a dedicated arts centre, theatre and the Intu Trafford Centre – one of the UK’s largest shopping destinations.

We are a key asset to the region with a place at the top table of the Northern Powerhouse – essential to Greater Manchester’s growth plans – contributing over £9.6bn to the Greater Manchester economy. There are 23,000 homes to be built by 2035 and 1.12m square metre of new employment space. We have the development of the University Academy 92 (UA92) which opens up new avenues for economic growth and regeneration.

We are also at the heart of the city region with Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly train station and major UK motorway networks on our doorstep. We already have a good story to tell. We now need to grasp the wider opportunities available to us and make strides on the commercial and investment landscape.

We need the right people to help us lead and drive our bold and ambitious vision.

Trafford is a place where innovation is encouraged, so appointing the right individuals with the right credentials, experience, enthusiasm and innovation is essential. We’re a council with big plans and bold ambitions and we need two influential leaders to help drive our ambitious growth agenda. Leaders who are highly motivated, act with integrity and can engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholder both internally and externally.

We are looking for a new Director of Development to establish a new development team. You will strategically lead and develop Trafford’s development programme ensuring a balanced portfolio of assets is achieved that delivers immediate out-turns alongside longer term income growth. You will also identify new opportunities for development and investment, working with our existing partners and looking for new opportunities. You will also lead on the Council’s leisure centre investment programme, working with Trafford Leisure.

You will act as an ambassador for Trafford, influencing decisions with partners’ including Greater Manchester (GM), maximising opportunities and bringing forward a pipeline of development.
