About the role
The town planning team at BDP Manchester is seeking to recruit a Consultant Town Planner to join the team in Manchester to work alongside a range of other design professionals on a wide variety of exciting projects. Our work is varied and includes the preparation of planning applications, masterplans, regeneration frameworks, environmental impact assessments, community engagement and strategic planning advice for public and private sector clients across the UK and increasingly worldwide.
We are looking for a Chartered Town Planner (or someone who is eligible for Chartership) with development management experience (public or private sector) to assist on a range of complex planning applications and projects.
You will have worked on a range of planning projects, ideally including major applications and statutory or non-statutory plans and documents, or be able to demonstrate the relevance of your experience to our requirements. Your experience should enable you to make a valuable contribution to multi-disciplinary teams and the multi-sector projects of BDP and our clients.
A strong academic background along with a passion for town planning, urban place making and sustainability are key. Initiative and an ability to work to tight deadlines will be required of all candidates. Experience of GIS systems and data-driven urban planning would be advantageous.
As an enthusiastic team player, you will enjoy working in a collaborative team environment and demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, including the project teams, clients, local communities and external consultants.
BDP offers an excellent opportunity for your personal and career development as well as an attractive remuneration package that includes a competitive salary, flexible pension allowance, private medical insurance, and contribution towards professional subscriptions. We have a Social Life committee which organises a wide range of social, sporting and charitable activities and a communication committee for improvement and development ideas. Our studio location by the waterside at Piccadilly Basin is near the vibrant Northern Quarter and close to Manchester Piccadilly station.
BDP has a dedicated town planning team within the Urbanism Studio, which brings together the expertise of landscape architects, urban planners and urban designers to deliver sophisticated development frameworks, masterplans and regeneration strategies.
