Opportunity for ambitious architect to join small, busy practice, at associate level with view to advancement

We are a small Macclesfield-based practice working nationally, established almost 40 years ago. We’re seeking fresh blood to join the existing team to advance and sustain the future of the practice.

Successful candidates will have 5–10 years’ proven experience in professional team leadership, good client management skills and experience as an all-round Architect from inception to completion. Ideally, experienced in both private and public sector. Currently in a senior position but looking for a career opportunity to progress.

Experience in all housing sectors, plus education, historic buildings, urban design, sports, leisure, community, retail, industrial and commercial would be advantageous.

The successful candidate will join with two other Architects one of whom will be retiring within the next few years and you will therefore be expected to contribute towards growth and management of the Practice with a view to Directorship.

It is anticipated that the candidate will be in post by July.

Key skills we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication, written and illustrative presentation ability
  • Proven  excellence in building design
  • Good commercial understanding of market requirements especially in housing and commercial development

Technical requirements

  • Hand drawing ability
  • AutoCAD  (Revit would be beneficial but not essential)
  • Photoshop

Academic standard

  • 1st or 2.1 from a RIBA School of Architecture
  • ARB registered
