LDA Design is united around a common purpose: to make great places and shape the world around us for the better. We do this through our work regenerating cities and towns, planning new settlements, creating and repurposing streets and spaces and renewing the UK’s infrastructure. Fundamental to this is addressing the climate and nature crises.

We have an enviable record working on some of the UK’s most exciting development and regeneration projects and believe in landscape as the essential building block of place. Since we opened our Manchester studio in 2018, we have been on an amazing journey. From our home in the Northern Quarter, our creative and collaborative team has shaped some of the region’s most important regeneration and public realm projects.

Our work has range and impact, we have shaped the future transformation of major city centres, including the design and delivery of Newcastle and Liverpool’s city centre public realm, delivery of town centre masterplans in Greater Manchester, community-led estate regeneration in Blackpool and Chester, the conversion of an old baths in Crewe and major mixed-use regeneration schemes in Ashton, Salford and Shrewsbury.

Our work in the Baltic Triangle, our first project in the Manchester studio, was recognised by the RTPI in 2021 and awarded for Excellence in Plan Making. We are very proud of what we do and the positive impact we make as a team.

The growth of our studio continues, and we are due to move into a new studio in the Northern Quarter in the summer. We are looking for an urban designer with experience in delivering imaginative placemaking responses in a variety of urban and rural contexts. You would work on a fantastic mix of projects, including mixed-use masterplans, policy making, public realm strategies, new settlements, and community-led neighbourhood regeneration.

This is a great professional opportunity for someone with ambition, who wants to contribute their expertise to our friendly and talented team. We are particularly interested in hearing from people with strong design skills, and energy and enthusiasm for their work.

      We are looking for:

      • Strong conceptual landscape and masterplanning design skills
      • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills
      • Experience in detailed urban research and appraisal
      • Experience of working with clients and multidisciplinary teams
      • Experience of engagement and collaborative working on design projects
      • Good experience with all RIBA stages, project running, team leading, and consultant liaison
      • Experience and knowledge of the UK planning system, and its application
      • Proficiency in the Adobe Suite and AutoCAD, experience in Revit and 3D packages is also desirable

If you are interested, please email your CV, a brief introduction to who you are and why you do what you do and a portfolio showcasing some of your best work (5MB max) to Anne South at recruitment@lda-design.co.uk

If you would like to find out more and discuss the roles available, please contact Mark Graham, our Manchester studio lead, on 07375 556990.
