      Salary range: £38,223 – £40,221

      Contract type: Full time, fixed term for 2 years

      About the Role

      We currently have an exciting vacancy within our team to help shape the communities, urban and natural environments of Trafford for the next 30 years.

      As a Senior Strategic Transport Planning Officer, you will lead on the development of transport policy and strategy in Trafford, alongside long-term plans for future rail and road projects in the borough.

      You will also input into the Local Plan, strategic development opportunities and active travel plans, securing funding for transport and infrastructure projects across the borough.

      In undertaking this role, you will help develop various elements of policy and strategy, laying the foundations for more sustainable and active travel-oriented Trafford.

      Applicants must have a degree or equivalent qualification and have significant post qualification experience in transport planning, infrastructure planning, or a related field. You will also have excellent communication skills, a good understanding of transport policy and strategy creation and implementation as well as knowledge of high-speed rail projects in Greater Manchester and Trafford specifically.

      About us

      Trafford’s Strategic Planning and Growth team is part of the wider Strategic Growth Service which is based at the recently rebuilt Town Hall in Stretford, and you will report to the Principal Transport Policy Officer.

      This is a particularly exciting time to join the Strategic Planning and Growth team, that has just completed the adoption of the Places for Everyone Joint Development Plan for nine of the ten Greater Manchester authorities. Now adopted, Trafford’s own Local Plan incorporating transport and infrastructure planning will be actively progressed, alongside masterplans for two largescale strategic development sites.

      The team are also working with partners and the government on Northern Powerhouse Rail and the planned airport station, Metrolink line extensions and implementation of the Bee Network. The team are also at the forefront of the implementation of GM’s Transport 2040 strategy alongside many other regeneration and transport/infrastructure projects.
