Situated in award-winning offices, adjacent to the new multi-million-pound Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure complex and in the heart of the Town Centre, Rochdale Council’s Planning Department has recently received a commendation at the RTPI North West Awards for Planning Excellence 2021 – Public Sector Planning Team of the Year.

Two fantastic opportunities have arisen within our enforcement team. In our Team Leader (Enforcement and S106 Monitoring) role, we are looking for an experienced, hardworking and dedicated individual, to work with like-minded colleagues and to lead the delivery of an efficient, effective and proactive enforcement service within Rochdale Council. This will include taking the lead on the team’s performance, opportunities to shape the future direction of the service, dealing with complex enforcement investigations and appeals, and leading on S106 contribution monitoring.

For our Assistant Planning Officer (enforcement) temporary role, we are seeking a graduate, or student in the final stages of their degree course, to join the team for a twelve month period under direct supervision of a Senior Enforcement Officer. We are looking for someone with a proactive approach and an ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, developers and key stakeholders. In return, you will gain an up-to-date working knowledge of legislation, policy and best practice relating to enforcement and development management.

If you feel that you can positively contribute to the Council’s Enforcement Service we would like to hear from you.  In addition to being a great place to work, we can offer further opportunities for training and development courses and a chance to be involved in projects that will define your career. You’ll also enjoy a generous annual leave entitlement, access to the local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and subsidised gym membership.

For an informal discussion please contact Emma Heron (Interim Development Manager), emma.heron@rochdale.gov.uk  01706 925824.

Closing date for applications: 3 April 2022
