The role
Due to the growth of our national Living Building Consultancy offering we are recruiting for an ambitious Associate to lead a north focused team based in Manchester. Our UK Living Building Consultancy team works with all Client groups in the residential sector, including Affordable Housing, Specialist Care, Build to Rent and Student and Later Living, delivering technical due diligence, professional work and project led work including contract administration and project monitoring.
We are looking for a forward thinking Associate with strong sector connections and a track record of delivery to a high standard. You will preferably already have a residential sector track record, a strong sense of ‘team spirit’, a desire to develop others and an ambition to deliver excellence. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to grow a team with the support of the wider UK business.
What this job involves
- Working with the UK Living Building Consultancy lead to establish and grow a team serving the north of the UK
- Working with the wider UK Living Building Consultancy team to deliver instructions
- Working with the established and sector leading JLL Living business including Affordable Housing, Valuation, Stock Rationalisation, Capital Markets, Student Housing and Build to Rent
- Making sustainable business links with both external and internal clients and offering a professional and excellent client service at all times
- Working with internal multi-disciplinary teams on shared instructions
- Undertaking business development with new and existing clients
- Undertaking Building Surveyor’s inspections and preparing reports
- Completing technical due diligence for the sale or acquisition of existing assets
- Project, Fund and Bank Monitoring of new build residential and mixed use assets from one-off houses to new towers
- Employer’s Agent, Client Representative for new build and residential assets
- Preparing specifications for, and administering repair and refurbishment contracts
- Preparing planned preventative maintenance plans and stock condition surveys
- Undertaking building reinstatement cost assessments
- The co-ordination of portfolio instructions and undertaking other duties from time to time as may be reasonably required
- Supporting the existing residential and building surveying teams
- Some travel will be required in this role
Sound like you? The ideal candidate will possess these qualities:
- Ideally, residential sector experience and connections
- Excellent track record of managing, supporting and developing others
- Ability to manage team workload and administration
- Required to have the ability to work within a team and on own initiative
- Must be enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated
- Must have strong verbal and numerical skills, and be comfortable with report writing
- Requires excellent time management and general organisational skills
- Is required to be flexible and have the ability to work under pressure
- MRICS (building surveying) with proven experience, preferably PQE in a commercial consultancy
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Clean driving licence
- Must be well presented and have excellent communication skills
