ITS expands full fibre connections in North West

The network company is bringing gigabit-capable internet connections to Stockport, Heaton Mersey, Heaton Moor, Chorley, Accrington and Blackburn.

The connections are part of ITS Technology Group’s “Faster Britain” project, which brings high-speed digital infrastructure to towns across the country. Blackpool, Preston, Tameside and Glossop were part of an earlier phase of the multi-million-pound scheme.

ITS is also working with the Liverpool Region Combined Authority on its LCR Connect project, which involves 212km of full fibre cables. NGE is the construction partner for the scheme, which plans to have the first parts go live in early 2022.

“We are proud to have already put a lot of fibre into the ground across the North West,” said Daren Baythorpe, chief executive officer of ITS. “Our build plans include thousands of kilometres more, focusing on where there is pent up demand from businesses for reliable gigabit services.

“Full fibre is a vital contributor to the local economy and also to levelling up the UK,” he continued. “For example, experts have estimated that the digital infrastructure we are leading on across the Liverpool City Region could provide an economic boost worth up to £1bn, creating thousands of local jobs.”

ITS is reusing existing ducts and infrastructure to install its full fibre cables in an effort to minimise disruption to the communities it’s connecting.

Businesses that sign up for ITS’s Faster Britain connection will be able to enjoy gigabit-capable broadband, telephony and a range of IT solutions from the company.
