ISG kicks off second phase of £25m Manchester schools deal
ISG has started on the second stage of a £25m schools deal awarded through the North West Construction Hub which will see the contractor work on seven different new-build and refurbishment projects across Greater Manchester.
The deal, which was awarded through the NWCH’s medium value framework in 2016, has already seen ISG complete two projects: a £3m new build facility at St Margaret’s C of E Primary School on Withington Road, Whalley Range; and a £2m refurbishment and extension at St Matthew’s RC High School in Moston.
ISG worked with off-site manufacturing firm Premier Modular on the new-build elements for both schemes, and will continue to work with its professional team, which includes architect Lovelock Mitchell, structural engineers Scott Hughes, and M&E firm BCM Consulting, on the upcoming second phase.
This phase will see ISG undertake seven projects, including a refurbishment of Plymouth Grove Primary School in Chorlton, and an expansion of Beaver Road Primary School in Didsbury. ISG was unable to release details of the additional five projects.
Neil Walker, ISG’s framework director, said: “The North West Construction Hub is the catalyst for bringing many of the region’s most important community projects to site quickly and cost effectively.
“This latest Manchester City Council programme of works targets the rising demand for additional pupil places at primary schools across the region, and this investment will provide high-quality learning facilities to support pupils today and for future generations.”
