Inacity boss Mellor guilty of criminal damage

Wayne Mellor, the well-known Manchester developer behind plans for the 60-storey Piccadilly Tower, has been ordered by Knutsford Magistrates' Court to carry out 150 hours of community service and pay compensation after pleading guilty to a criminal damages charge.

Mellor caused damage to property owned by Martin Coyne, managing partner of Manchester-based law firm Ralli Solicitors.

A court spokeswoman said Mellor had damaged "a window casement and two vehicles belonging to Martin Coyne" on 2 March in Wilmslow.

At the hearing last Thursday, 27 August, Mellor was ordered to pay £3778.52 compensation to Coyne and Ralli and to serve a 12-month community order, as well as paying £200 costs.

Last year, Inacity sold a 95% stake in Piccadilly Tower to Irish developer Ballymore, which is now on site with preparatory ground works.

All parties declined to comment.
