HOW reaches milestone with new recruits
Manchester-based HOW Planning has hired a further three planners to take its headcount to 30, as it celebrates 15 years in business.

The new appointments to the team are James Berggren, senior planner, previously at Bolton-based Sedgwick Associates; Isla Longmuir, senior planner formerly of Countryside; and Rachel Jones as planner who joined from Hourigan Connolly in Manchester. At the same time, there were promotions for Jamie Lynch to environmental consultant, Rhian Harris to senior planner and Jon Power to principal planner.

The specialist planning and environmental consultancy was established in 2001 and during the past 15 years has gone on to become one of the region’s leading independent consultancies working with a growing portfolio of clients including Aldi, Roadchef, easyHotel, Taylor Wimpey, Barwood Strategic Land, Muse Developments, Bruntwood, Bentley Motors and Royal London.
HOW is headed by managing partner Gary Halman and partners Richard Woodford, Jon Suckley and Richard Barton. Recent project successes include The Asps, Barwood Strategic Land’s 900-home residential scheme in Warwick; New Bolton Woods, Urbo’s £150m urban village in Bradford; and Five Town Parks, Lateral Properties’ £135m mixed-use scheme in Castleford, West Yorkshire.
It also leading the team responsible for the successful planning approval for the redevelopment of Alderley Park, Astra Zenecca’s 160ha campus in Cheshire, on behalf of Bruntwood.
