Housing approved at Bleaklow Mill site
Silverlane Developments, advised by Indigo Planning, has won consent from Bury Council for the construction of 24 homes on the edge of Hawkshaw village.
The site lies within the green belt and will involve the demolition of a former industrial building.
Historically the wider site formed the Bleaklow Mill complex, which has seen various industrial uses, including a dye works, closed down over the last 17 years. The main mill building was redeveloped for apartments a decade ago.
Steven Carnes, development director of Silverlane, said: “The redevelopment of this vacant brownfield site will provide high quality homes for a small village that is in great need of more quality housing”.

Silverlane intends to be on-site either in late 2017 or early 2018. The scheme, designed by local architect the Ratcliffe Groves Partnership, will deliver a mixture of three- and four-bedroom houses.
Indigo also advised Silverlane on Norton Court, its 300-apartment, 34-storey scheme in Salford.
