HCA to address NW Housing Forum Conference

David Chilton, North West director of the newly formed Homes & Communities Agency, has been confirmed as a speaker at this week's Housing Forum Regional Conference.

The powerful and wealthy body – it controls a £17bn budget – came into force on 1 December, replacing English Partnerships, the Housing Corporation and various functions of the Department for Communities and Local Government.

Chilton formerly worked as an area director for EP.

The HCA, headed by Sir Bob Kerslake, ex-chief executive of Sheffield City Council, is expected to pursue innovative shared equity schemes with housebuilders to help thaw the mortgage market. Options include joint ventures with developers, more flexible grant regimes and greater funding for developers to buy unsold private stock for use as social housing.

  • The Housing Forum takes place at CUBE, 113-115 Portland Street, Manchester from 9am to 3pm on Thursday 4 December. Contact Zoe Brinnand at Zoe.Brinnand@constructingexcellence.org.uk or telephone 0207 592 1141 for tickets.
