Harworth readies 860,000 sq ft St Helens industrial

The developer is preparing to submit a planning application for logistics accommodation across 50 acres close to Langtree’s emerging Parkside Colliery employment complex in Newton-le-Willows.

Harworth has submitted early-stage proposals to St Helens Council for the 860,000 sq ft scheme. The project would feature “a series of manufacturing/logistics units” up to 24m in height between Parkside Road and the M6.

The site is currently agricultural land.

You can view the plans by searching for application reference number EIA/2023/0006/SCOPE on the council’s planning portal.

Turley is advising on planning matters. Harworth was contacted for comment.

The scheme would be located on the opposite side of the M6 to Langtree’s Parkside Colliery proposal, which the developer is delivering in joint venture with the local council.

Langtree won outline approval for the 1m sq ft logistics project in 2021 after the 230-acre project had been called in by the secretary of state for additional scrutiny, following the council’s approval.

Parkside Regeneration, the name of the joint venture, lodged reserved matters application for the £80m first phase this summer.
