Harbur Construction goes under

The Stockport-based company, which was lead contractor for the £25m redevelopment of the former Walton Hospital in Liverpool, has gone into administration.

Leonard Curtis has been appointed administrator, and according to Construction Enquirer, has confirmed that staff have been laid off.

Harbur had offices in Ashbrook Office Park, and employed around 20 people. The contractor specialised in affordable housing, commercial and retail.

The company started on site last year with the redevelopment of Walton Hospital site, which includes 195 homes being delivered jointly by Mulbury Homes and Riverside Group.

A spokesman for Mulbury said: “We will be completing the build of our Walton scheme as main contractor, using our in-house resources and working with our panel of subcontractors. We’re confident we can keep any delays to a minimum.”

Other projects include a residential scheme for First Step on Blossom Street in Manchester, a block for Salvation Army in Bolton, and several projects for TAC Developments.
