Harbour Freight in Trafford Park move

The logistics business is to move from Eccles after agreeing terms on 43,000 sq ft at Merlin Park.

In a deal brokered by JLL on behalf of landlord Custodian REIT, the transport, customs clearance and freight forwarding solutions specialist has agreed a 10-year lease on Unit 4, The Furrows at a rent of £7.25 per sq ft.

The move sees Harbour International Freight – a shareholder member of the Pall-Ex network, which operates more than 20 locations across the UK and Ireland – relocate from smaller premises in Eccles. This follows a period of sustained growth for the £45m turnover logistics firm.

Nearby occupiers include Kellogg’s, Anglo Pacific International and The Green Group.

Steve Swinburn, general manager at Harbour International Freight, said: “As an international business based in the North West for more than 50 years, it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to further our growth and maintain our presence here.

“Trafford Park has long been the ideal home for us and will no doubt play a crucial role as a modern and well-located headquarters for the business, driving our future success in the UK and Europe.”

John Whitehurst, industrial and logistics senior surveyor at JLL North West, said: “The speed of this transaction is evidence of the high demand for quality modern warehousing at Trafford Park, which we expect to see continued well into next year.

“We received strong interest from a number of occupiers as Trafford Park continues to be a highly desirable location for occupiers. We’re extremely pleased to be able to help Harbour Freight take the next step in its long-term growth with this letting.”

Custodian REIT was advised by JLL and BC Real Estate. Harbour Freight was unrepresented.
