Grosvenor to deliver Lord Street hotel
The property investor has won approval to convert a 17,000 sq ft former office building close to the Liverpool One retail centre into a 58-bedroom hotel.
Since closing last January, the building – which is split over three and four storeys – has been vacant. The group’s subsidiary Grosvenor Europe submitted plans for the project, which it owns, in January.
Under the plans, the fourth floor of the building will accommodate a reception area, restaurant and bar.
Floors one to three will accommodate the hostel rooms, with 14 rooms on the first floor, and 22 rooms on both the second and third floors.
A 3,000 sq ft roof terrace also features in the plans.
The existing retail units at the ground floor of the building do not form part of the proposal.
Grosvenor was the developer behind the adjacent Liverpool One mixed-use retail and residential complex, which regenerated 2m sq ft in Liverpool city centre.
The company acquired the neighbouring plots including Lord Street as part of its early plans for Liverpool One, and remained the scheme’s asset manager.
