Grosvenor finds lasting home for HMV
Grosvenor has completed the deal to relocate HMV to a 20,300 sq ft store in Liverpool One.
HMV moved out of its Church Street store last year to make way for the development of the Church Yard entrance to Liverpool One and took temporary accommodation on Bold Street.
The entertainment giant is to be re-housed on South John Street, the two-tier shopping street between the anchor stores of Debenhams and John Lewis.
The first phase, including South John Street and Paradise Street, opens on May 29. The later phases around Chavasse Park, Hanover Street and Peter's Lane are due to open gradually from September until early 2009.
Neil Barber, head of retail leasing at Grosvenor, said: "HMV will complement a crowded line-up of high-quality brands already announced for South John Street.
"Together, they create a critical mass of high street fashion and lifestyle brands that complement the offers of John Lewis and Debenhams."
In total, the £950m project will provide 1.5m sq ft of retail in 160 units, complemented by two hotels, 600 flats, a 14-screen Odeon cinema, a five-acre park and extensive restaurants and bars.
Letting agents are Cushman & Wakefield, Strutt & Parker and Tushingham Moore.
