Green light for Bloor’s latest Wigan homes
Wigan Council has granted planning consent for the third and final phase of the Lowton Heath housing development, comprising 65 homes.
The whole scheme, being delivered by Bloor Homes, will offer 268 units once complete. It includes a range of apartments as well as detached, semi-detached, and terraced houses, and 25% of the total will be designated as affordable.
Wigan Council approved the third phase of 69 homes at its planning committee meeting last week. The first phase of 129 homes was approved in 2017, and the second phase in 2019, and work on these initial phases is underway.
The Lowton Heath site is located just off the A580 East Lancashire Road, providing connecting to Manchester, Wigan and Liverpool. The site has been earmarked for residential development in the Wigan Local Plan.
The multi-disciplinary team was led by consultancy Stantec, with masterplanning undertaken by Bloor Homes’ in-house team.
Bernard Greep, planning director at Stantec’s Manchester office, said: “We are pleased to have secured planning permission for a further phase of development at this scheme.
“The development will make a valuable contribution to the short-term need for market and affordable family homes, at a sustainable location.”
