Great Places primed for approval in Stockport

Located off King Street West, the 100% affordable scheme would provide 73 apartments.

Stockport Council’s planning committee will meet next week to discuss Great Places Housing Group’s application. Planning officers have recommended the project be approved.

The housing group wants to deliver affordable apartments in the King Street West area, in a £16.4m project.

Funded in part by Homes England, the development would be located in the Stockport Mayoral Corporation Town Centre West regeneration area, which aims to create a new gateway in the town centre with 3,500 homes and more than 1m sq ft of commercial space.

The development will consist of 73 one- and two-bed apartments, all of which will be available through the government-backed Rent to Buy scheme.

Bowker Sadler Architecture is advising Great Places on the scheme.

To learn more about the application, search for reference number DC/086371 on Stockport Council’s planning portal.

Elsewhere in the borough, the housing provider is looking to bring forward a 150-home development in partnership with Clowes in Heald Green.

Great Places wants to provide 110 affordable homes within the site, formerly used for airport parking.
