Grange Park housing approved

Blackpool Council’s executive has signed off plans for 131 social homes as part of its Grange Park Estate regeneration project.

The scheme features 101 houses and 30 apartments across two plots totalling 9.5 acres within the estate. The new homes are to be managed by Blackpool Coastal Housing and the development was designed by architect Cassidy + Ashton.

The scheme is part of the council’s estate renewal project, which it describes as “a whole place-based approach to increasing community resilience to climate change”.

It comprises Plot A – recently cleared land located off Chepstow Road outside the town centre – and Plot B, which fronts Dinmore Avenue to the rear of @thegrange community hub. Plot A is to feature 27 two-bedroom homes, nine with three-bedrooms, nine with four bedrooms, and eight with five-bedrooms, while Plot B is earmarked for 78 units- 48 houses and 30 apartments.

Plot B will also house a community green and expanded car park.

Grange Park is one of the largest council estates in Lancashire with a population of more than 6,000 people.
