Glencar to build 460,000 sq ft Crewe spec shed
Developer PLP has appointed the construction firm to speculatively build the second phase at Basford West.
Glencar Construction will start work on Crewe 460 in the coming days and aims to complete the 460,000 sq ft unit in December.
The scheme, which also includes 30,000 sq ft of office space, forms part of PLP Crewe, an employment park located close to Junction 16 of the M6.
Phase one, comprising two units of 92,500 sq ft and 43,000 sq ft, completed in 2020. Glencar built those units, which have since been let to Likewize, a provider of integrated solutions for the mobile and financial industries formally known as Brightstar.
Crewe 460 will be constructed in accordance with the UK Green Building Council Carbon Net Zero standard, and aim to minimise embodied carbon, according to PLP.
Keith Wilson, development director at PLP, said: “After the success of letting both phase one units, it’s fantastic to be back on site developing out the final phase.
“Crewe 460 will be a prime, high spec logistics facility in a well-established employment location with excellent links to the motorway network. It will be the largest spec unit currently under construction along the M6 corridor throughout the whole region and I have no doubt that it will appeal to a wide range of blue-chip occupiers.”
Knight Frank and Cushman & Wakefield are the joint letting agents for Crewe 460.
