Gleeson to acquire 16 acres in Wrexham for hundreds of houses

Parkhill Group subsidiary Brymbo Developments has selected the housebuilder for the next phase of Brymbo Park.

Gleeson Homes is set to acquire 16 acres within the wider 560-acre former British Steelworks with planning permission for 200 homes.

The scheme makes up the lion’s share of phase two at Byrmbo, which would deliver 300 homes in total. 469 homes have already been built out in phase one.

“This acquisition presents an exciting opportunity for Gleeson to deliver high-quality homes that meet local demand, while contributing to the wider regeneration of this historic site.”

Brymbo recently secured an agreement for a 5,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s convenience store, with a further 4,500 sq ft of retail space currently being marketed by BA Commercial.

Another 6.5-acres earmarked for residential will come to market shortly. This plot could accommodate 85 homes.

Work on a new primary school for Wrexham County Council is expected to begin early next year.

The Brymbo masterplan also includes a visitor attraction celebrating the site’s heritage, which has recently secured a £10m funding deal from the National Lottery, Wrexham Council, CADW and National Resources Wales.
