Glaisyers’ Marlor dies at 43
David Marlor, who headed the law firm’s property team in Manchester, has been described as an “inspiration and moral compass”.
Marlor led a consortium that acquired Glaisyers ETL in 2018. He died in July after a period of illness.
Glaisyers executive partner David Jones, who was also part of the takeover consortium, said Marlor would be sorely missed.
“Dave was our friend, colleague and leader. He wasn’t just our managing partner, he was our inspiration and moral compass,” he said.
“Whilst we can’t believe he has really gone, we will endeavour to keep his legacy going. We will remember to ask, ‘What would Dave do or say?’ as often as possible.”
Jones added: “He led Glaisyers through Brexit, a global pandemic, and general macro-economic malaise. He did so with a smile, a quiet confidence, generosity and a touch of verve.”
Marlor spent 15 years at Kuits prior to joining Glaisyers, having completed his law degree at the University of Leicester in 2001.
Tributes to and memories of Marlor can be paid via an online book of condolence.
Jones said: “Dave’s love of impractical cars and trucks – TVR and GMC mechanics all over the North West will mourn his loss – baked goods and, above all, his dear wife Sam, were legendary. We send our deepest condolences to her, his parents and his brother Andy.”
