Genr8 hires development director

Former Arcadis partner Stuart Dick has joined Genr8 as the Manchester-based developer prepares to deliver more than £100m of development over the next two years.

Construction is expected to start in October at Rochdale Riverside, Genr8’s 200,000 sq ft retail and leisure scheme in the town centre. This week the company also received a reserved matters planning approval for a 140-bed Hilton Garden Inn, due to start on site before the end of 2017, at its £170m Smithfield, Stoke-on-Trent development. A public consultation on the next phase at Smithfield, a build-to-rent scheme, will begin in the coming weeks.

Having previously been responsible for overseeing the delivery of Capita’s project management services throughout the North West of England, Dick left to open Christal Management’s Manchester office in 2006. Arcadis subsequently acquired Christal in 2014 and he assumed responsibility for the delivery of all Arcadis’ project management services throughout the region.

Over the past 25 years, Dick has delivered projects for Manchester City Council, University of Manchester and Manchester Airports Group.

Genr8 partner, Mike Smith, commented: “Stuart joining us represents a very significant appointment for the business and a boost to our in-house delivery capability. Stuart’s unrivalled experience in delivering complex schemes, alongside his extensive market knowledge and contacts, will help us to direct future business strategy and allow us to provide a complete range of development and development management services.”

Stuart Dick added: “Having worked for both contractor and consultant, the move ‘client-side’ is a natural progression for me and I hope to bring an additional perspective to Genr8’s offer. The public sector in particular is seeking new ways to deliver development, often through direct investment, and we believe it is vital for us to be able to provide a full range of development services.”
