Galliford Try signs triple deal with Cheshire West

The company’s housebuilding arm has bought three sites in Ellesmere Port and Winsford from the council to deliver 188 homes.

The largest of the three is at Handley Hill in Winsford where 82 homes will be development; and in Ellesmere Port, the housebuilder will deliver 54 homes on the former Acorns Primary School along with 52 homes at the Rivacre Business Centre.

Under the deal signed with Cheshire West & Chester Council to acquire the sites, 30% of the homes will be built for affordable tenures on behalf of CWAC, with the remainder for private sale through Galliford Try’s Linden Homes brand.

Planning applications for all three sites are set to be submitted in the summer.

The three sites will be the latest Galliford Try Partnerships projects to come forward in Cheshire West; the company is currently on site to redevelop the former council offices in Watling Street into 70 apartments, while it has also previously delivered 141 homes at the former greyhound stadium at Chase Park in Ellesmere Port.

“Last year 627 new affordable homes were built in our borough by the council, housing associations and developers, so I’m delighted that this is continuing with a new agreement for a further 188 properties, 30% of which will be new affordable homes. Cheshire West and Chester Council will continue to develop innovative partnerships to help solve the housing crisis in this country.”
