Gallagher leaves P3 for Colliers

Peter Gallagher, one of the founding partners of P3 Property Consultants, has resigned to join Colliers International as head of development in the Manchester office.

Gallagher becomes the latest big-name signing as Colliers seeks to beef up its regional presence. Mike Hawkins recently departed WHR Property Consultants, where he was similarly a founding partner, and will join Colliers in January as partner in its national office agency team.

Mark Taylor, head of national offices at Colliers International, said: "Peter is an office specialist of the very highest regard in Manchester. He has advised on many of the North West's best known schemes and an enviable track record of bringing forward both pre-let solutions and pre-build development consultancy for both occupiers and owners, private and public sector organisations.

"Manchester's appeal to UK and international investors, funds, developers and major UK occupiers is mounting significantly. Having recently announced that Mike Hawkins will join the team as a Partner in National Offices in Manchester, as well as new recruits Nick Nelson and Scott Shufflebottom to work alongside Director Rupert Barron, Peter's appointment is the last piece of the jigsaw for Colliers to provide the region with the very best advice possible in leasing, investment and development transactions."

Colliers lags behind other international agencies in Manchester compared to its global ranking, something the company is addressing with these senior hires as it seeks to exploit Manchester's increasing attractiveness to overseas investors.

Gallagher set up P3 with Phil Meakin, also an offices specialist, and industrial agent Paul Daye in early 2008 following the collapse of Erinaceous, where the three were directors.

Interesting moves. What is it telling the market? The days for the independents are numbered? Still believe clients buy the man rather than the brand. Wish all parties well and a successful 2014.

All these moves and departures from smaller partnerships to corporates really does show people are just in this game for themselves. Not a slight on those involved, but capitalism is alive and kicking in the property industry. Happy Christmas.
