Fylde in market for landscape specialist
Fylde Council is looking to appoint a landscape consultant to lead a funding bid and project delivery for the restoration and improvement of Fairhaven Lake & Garden in Lytham St Annes. The contract available for this stage of the process is worth £116,500.
The authority, which has opened the tender process today, is seeking a consultant with experience in working on Heritage Lottery Fund Parks for People projects.
Having secured funding to make a stage 2 submission to the HLF, it wants the consultant to take the project through this process and, if the bid is successful, to deliver the restoration masterplan on site.
Fairhaven Lake & Garden consists of a 24.7-acre marine leisure lake, historic gardens laid out by Thomas H Mawson & Sons, sport and recreational facilities together with a traditional lakeside café. It was originally built in the 19th century.
The site plays host to the RSPB Discovery Centre on the gateway to the Ribble Estuary, and is recognised as a site of international importance for bird life by the Ramsar designation.
The council said that if successful at the second stage, it is anticipated that the capital budget to deliver the physical works will be approximately £1.8m. Tenderers are invited to submit a consultancy charge based on a percentage of this.
