Four shortlisted for Siemens development

Bruntwood, Kier, Emerson Group and Wrenbridge with Palmer Capital and Vinci will compete to expand of the industrial technology giant's Manchester base.

Siemens, which recently secured Regional Growth Fund support for the project, will now seek detailed financial proposals for the Princess Parkway development from the contenders.

The preferred developer is expected to be selected by spring 2012. Jones Lang LaSalle is advising Siemens. Adam White, associate director at JLL, said: "The shortlisted parties have all displayed strong delivery credentials and alongside Siemens' globally recognised and market leading brand, we are confident that we will be able to deliver a scheme of exemplar status."

Siemens currently employs 800 people on the 20-acre site and has plans to increase this to 1,200 people in three years via the development of offshore wind power transmission technologies.

As well as a 100,000 sq ft office building, there will be a hotel and residential. The existing Sir William Siemens House will be refurbished.

The scheme is subject to the board approval of Siemens AG.
