Forshaw Demolition enters administration

The 80-year-old Bolton-based contractor is now in the hands of administrator KBL Advisory, following a petition by HMRC.

Forshaw Demolition has appointed KBL according to a filing on London Gazette.

Forshaw’s recent projects include the demolition of part of Walkden Shopping Centre to pave the way for its redevelopment. The company also knocked down the former House of Fraser in Birkenhead town centre.

In Manchester city centre, Forshaw was heavily involved in the redevelopment of the buildings around Lincoln Square, knocking down the former Brazennose House and Lincoln House, which have subsequently been redeveloped into The Lincoln and 1225 Deansgate, respectively.

While most of its work was in Greater Manchester, Forshaw was active across the country including Staffordshire, the North East, and South Wales.

Both KBL Advisory and Forshaw were contacted for comment.

Walter Forshaw, the original iteration of the business founded in 1921, went bust in 2016. Forshaw Demolition, which was established in 2003 but was dormant until 2016, acquired the business’s assets as part of a pre-packaged sale.

The new business was headed up by the same directors as Walter Forshaw: Andrew Forshaw, Christian Forshaw, and Karen Forshaw-Jones.
