Former construction minister joins Intelligent FS
Lord Richard Harrington has been appointed chairman and director of the Manchester-based cladding company.
Harrington was construction minister from June 2017 to 2019. He was also minister of state for refugees from March this year until September.
As chairman of Intelligent FS, Harrington will aid the company in developing its growth plan and its push to remove unsafe cladding from buildings.
“Intelligent FS has already contributed significantly to the removal of dangerous cladding on buildings,” Harrington said. “There is an incredible amount of work still to be done and the team at Intelligent are at the forefront of making buildings across the country safer for communities.
“It is an important area of work which needs to be tackled in the coming years and I’m proud to be able to help the company deliver that.”
Intelligent FS co-founders Rob Williams and Adam Gallagher praised Harrington’s hire. “He brings notable business and ministerial experience to the table, and shares a real commitment to protecting lives across the country,” they said in a statement.
“His work will be vital as we grow over the next couple of years not only across the North of England but the wider UK.”
Established in 2016, Intelligent FS is set to turn over £32m this year. This summer, the company secured a £3.5m contract to reclad Milliners Wharf in Manchester’s Ancoats neighbourhood. Intelligent FS is based in Altrincham.
