First application in for Cheshire Green industrial hub

HOW Planning has submitted the first reserved matters application for the 153-acre Cheshire Green scheme at the former Wardle Airfield site, near Nantwich.

Working on behalf of Haughton Estate, the planning consultancy has mapped out a scheme focusing on industrial, storage and distribution, the site being identified in the Cheshire East Local Plan for employment development.

This first reserved matters application seeks approval for the layout, scale, appearance and landscaping for site access works, which will help the site come forward for development.

Rhian Harris, senior planner, said: “Our client has now secured LEP funding to bring forward the proposed new roundabout junction. Approval of this first reserved matters application will significantly increase the site’s attractiveness to the market and help in securing end users for the Cheshire Green development.”

The scheme has the capacity to provide 1.4m sq ft of employment space and could generate up to 1,800 jobs.

Fisher German and Legat Owen are retained as joint agents.
