FIREM lodges plans for 77,000 sq ft hub for Swedish crane maker
Hydrauliska Industri AB will be based out of the proposed building at Wrexham Industrial Estate, relocating its UK headquarters from Shropshire.
FI Real Estate Management has submitted plans to develop a 77,000 sq ft facility for HIAB on a 54-acre site known as The Oaks.
The firm, which makes truck-mounted cranes, assessed several relocation options before plumping for Wrexham, including Crewe and Warrington, according to a planning statement prepared by Plan Red.
Designed by MCAU, the unit would be surrounded by a 45-acre “eco-heritage park”, meaning the vast majority of the site will remain undeveloped.
This element of the project would be aimed at improving the biodiversity and ecological value of the site.
“This is an exemplar of our approach for progressive industrial architecture,” said Phil Jervis, director and head of industrial at MCAU.
“The Oaks demonstrates how high-performance logistics facilities can be delivered without compromising on design quality or environmental value. We’re proud to be realising a scheme that’s not only commercially robust but socially and ecologically responsive.”
The professional team includes MDLandscape, Prime Transport Planning, and Barnsley Marshall engineers.
The Oaks forms part of FIREM’s wider investment into Wrexham Industrial Estate, which now totals over £130m and will enable delivery of more than 1.5m sq ft of commercial space over the next four years.
