Fenton joins Northern Gateway development team

Hong Kong-based developer Far East Consortium has hired Tom Fenton, who previously held development roles at Urban Splash and most recently Capital & Centric, as project director to work on the £1bn Northern Gateway housing project.

FEC was named delivery partner for the 300-acre North city site by Manchester City Council in April. The project is expected to bring 10,000 homes over a decade to plots around Victoria station, New Cross, Lower Irk Valley and Collyhurst.

Fenton will be based in FEC’s Manchester office, off Albert Square.

He joins FEC after a year in the development team at Capital & Centric, prior to which he worked at Sheffield Housing Company, focusing on placemaking and deprived areas. Fenton spent more than 13 years at Urban Splash.

FEC is expected to make more appointments to its Manchester team as work around the Northern Gateway emerges. A planning application for the 750-home Angel Meadow, designed by 5plus Architects and Planit-IE, was submitted in May.
