Fabrica let at last

Online fashion retailer Glamorous has signed a lease for the entire 24,400 sq ft building in Manchester’s New Islington area next to the Northern Quarter. The building had been empty since completion in 2012 by Royal London Asset Management.

Fabrica is in Pollard Street and contains four floors of offices over groundfloor retail units, which Glamorous will also occupy when it relocates from Ducie Street.

Mark Cooke of WHR comments: “New Islington used to be the industrial heartbeat of Manchester’s ‘rag trade’ so it is fitting that a successful clothing retailer has now taken it as its new headquarters.  This deal is testament to the expanding city centre office market.”

WHR Property, Canning O’Neill and Daniel Harris & Co were joint letting agents.

This isn’t the city centre

‘Expanding city centre’ is a justified comment

By M40

M40: this clearly reads as the expanding office market of the city centre, not the office market of the expanding city centre.

New Islington is not part of the city centre.

Costa coffee will be happy

But the city centre is expanding eastwards, which is what MCC desire.

I would class Great Ancoats street and New Islington,as the City centre. The city centre is huge compared to the 80s.I remember there being nothing between a very small Gay village and the Hacienda along Whitworth street.Deansgate locks was a mudpit and obviously there was no Beetham or Metrolink.

The council don’t class New Islington as city centre – its supposed to be a separate area.
